Actionaid’s engagement for After project – which aims to awaken the public opinion and make them aware of the problem of feminine genital mutilations - spreads from Africa to Europe.
Such global phenomenon concerns 200 million young girls and women in 30 Countries and violates their human rights.

Feminine genital mutilations are a problem, which regards migrants, who live in Italy and risk to be mutilated when they go back to their Country during holidays or to visit some relatives of theirs.

After project wants to fight this form of violence through empowerment, information and education campaigns so that this costum can be finally abolished.

Another aim is to awaken European Institutions, because they tend too often to see this problem as something, which does not concern Europe.
Such project is financed by the UE Rights, Equality and Citizenship Program, and involves five EU members, such as Italy, Spain, Belgium, Sweden and Ireland.
