From the collapse of the Soviet Union, to the siege of Sarajevo, from the bombings of Baghdad to the absurd tragedies of the Coronavirus pandemic: her narrative has never lost the sense of reality, the value of respect, the powerful efficacy of testimony. Because where, for many, journalism is just a job, for Giovanna Botteri, it is more a mission.
